Melting snow and ice from Clements Mountain helped create these brooks along the trail. The water is probably safe to drink if you sample it close to a vertical runoff source (i.e. where animals are unlikely to contaminate it). It's freezing, but as pure and sweet as any spring or mineral water can be.
Left: The wind and harsh weather conditions at this elevation tended to stunt the growth of the trees and create these twisted and gnarled forms.

Above: More glimpses of mountain goats strolling along the trails. (The stunted trees make the animal look bigger than it really is.)
