Here's the starting point of the the 1.5 mile Hidden Lake trail on the Continental Divide, one of the most popular hikes in the park. (Below: Clements Mountain.) A boardwalk was constructed to make the trail easy and to protect the fragile alpine meadows (which at this time [August 24] were carpeted with yellow and magenta wildflowers). There are no steep areas of the trail; nevertheless, the high elevation and thin air make it more of an effort to walk; so it's recommended, especially for lowlanders, that anyone planning this hike be physically fit and healthy..
Bring Binoculars! Somewhere in the photograph below is a grizzly bear. I still haven't determined which little brown dot it is. A ranger and a group of hikers with binoculars were gathered on the bend of the trail watching intently; alas, with the unaided eye, all anyone could see was a small brown dot running around near the river below...
