The trail wound its way up a steep hill, and on through the woods for quite a distance, my knees starting to feel the effects about halfway through the journey. Occasionally we'd pass other hikers -- some of them wearing "bear bells" and reminding us that this was no carefree Cleveland Metroparks excursion. ...It's a very strange feeling, knowing that there was some force of nature in the vicinity that might possibly view You as a Prey Species.

Other than that, there were no sounds other than the occasional bird or animal call. -- Rather eerie, if you're not used to being away from civilization.

Was that a wolf howl I heard? ....
