Here's Avalanche Lake, and its source. The park allows fishing, and the thing that stands out most in my mind on this excursion was a conversation with a woman who told me that her hiking group had encountered "a pile of bears" -- a mother and three cubs -- on the Highline Trail (the one with the warning sign pictured earlier); but fortunately they were spotted in time and the accompanying ranger knew what to do.
