In fact, the town of Somerton seemed to take care to preserve its historic flavor. Even the new homes were built to match the older ones; made of grey cut stone with cobbled roofing tiles (or even thatching, as seen here). (There was a quarry nearby so I imagine it was a convenient local resource).

After looking around this town for a bit we finally decided to head north to Glastonbury. The frequent trucks (I mean, lorries) on the road became annoying after awhile, so we took our chance when we saw a sign indicating a nearby footpath that cut through the woods. We had to climb some hills (pushing our bikes) to get to the top of a wooded ridge, which provided us with a nice view of the surrounding landscape. (The Polden Hills, according to a map.)

(The skies were overcast most of the day, but lucky for us it didn't really rain hard until after we we arrived in Glastonbury.)
