More flora: I've never before seen this type of flower, but here they were scattered about the forest floor. A rare localized species perhaps?



Ironically,despite Arizona's dinosaur theme, the still-living reptiles are on the small side. This baby horned lizard found at the top of the canyon was only about an inch and a half long, so the picture is about twice its actual size.

...and to give an idea of how high up this trail led, my car (at the campground) is in the lower righthand corner, while full-size trees can be seen up at the top edge of the canyon wall (you'll have to imagine the perspective). I hadn't realized that the trail led up the sheer canyon wall, but I climbed it. I suppose there's a metaphor in that, somewhere...
