I didn't walk the length of the Grasshopper Point trail because the day was getting warm and I hadn't brought a change of clothes. So I went back to the campsite. There was another trail, which promised a "lookout point," that was supposed to start right near the campground, although one had to cross Oak Creek to get to the trailhead (above).

Scenes along the trail. Various wildflowers were coming into bloom at this time of year.

The trail, a narrow footpath of steadily ascending switchbacks, was rated as "moderate", and it just kept going up and up and up. The day had been on the windy side, but the winds became stronger the higher I climbed. Right: an odd-looking plant I've never seen before, or since.
