(Moments after taking the previous two pictures, this scrub jay landed on the railing several feet away, acting almost as if it were annoyed by my presence. Then he flew over to a crevice in the culvert across from the railing and started pecking and stabbing at something -- looks like lizard for dinner!)

Later in the day, the sun made the mountains at Big Sur appear as if they were covered in green velvet.
